Khan's late strike hands in-form Latics another victory

Date published: 28 September 2024

Otis Khan's strike with just five minutes to go secured Latics a 2-1 victory over National League bottom side Ebbsfleet.

Mark Kitching nodded the Latics into the lead from Mike Fondop’s flick-on three minutes into the second half at Kuflink Stadium.

It was all square after ex-Latic Dominic Poleon sent Matthew Hudson the wrong way with an 81st-minute penalty.

Four minutes later, Khan restored Oldham’s lead from Jesurun Uchegbulam’s cross to wrap up all three points and a third consecutive victory for the visitors.

Latics boss Micky Mellon said after the game: "All credit to Ebbsfleet they kept coming as well, but I believe we scored a deserved winner and I'm pleased to get another valuable three points for the road."

Latics return to action on Saturday with a home clash against Solihull Moors.

Meanwhile, Latics have snapped up forward Jack Stretton on a short term loan deal until January 5.

He was on the bench at Ebbsfleet.

Defender Liam Hogan has left the club by mutual consent.
