Unsworth's delight at first league win as Latics boss

David Unsworth is off the mark as Latics manager
David Unsworth has finally secured his first outright win as Latics boss as his side were good value for a 2-0 home National League victory against struggling Yeovil Town.
A goal in each half proved enough as Latics turned on the style at times.
Latics opened the scoring in the fifth minute courtesy of Bradford loanee Oscar Threlkeld, who finished inside the area following Zaine Francis-Angol's cross.
Unsworth's men then got their second when Mike Fondop tapped into an empty net after some neat build-up play from the hosts.
The visitors searched for a route back into the game and almost had one with 84 minutes on the clock as Sam Pearson crossed in for Jamie Reckford, who headed onto the post.
The home side could have put the game to bed in added time, but debutant Conor Carty's effort from outside the area curled just wide.
However, they held on for all three points, while Yeovil slipped to their fifth league defeat of the season.
After the game Unsworth said: "We should have been out of sight at half-time in terms of the chances we had and what we were creating.
"What we've always searched for is a clean sheet mentality and trying to get a second goal, and we've got that.
"We thoroughly deserved it."
Latics' next two National League fixtures are big away ties against close rivals.
They travel to Altrincham on Tuesday night, before then heading to FC Halifax Town for a televised evening clash on Saturday.
