"HEROES" at a nursing home who go "above and beyond" to provide amazing care have been nominated for a Pride in Oldham Award.
Natalie Howarth has put forward staff at Miller House unit at Shaw Side Residential and Nursing Home, for the exceptional care they provided for her grandad James Walters - and his whole family.
The 89-year-old died recently and Natalie said: "They looked after my grandad amazingly over the last two years. They were professional throughout and maintained my grandad's dignity at all times.
"Every single member of staff went above and beyond their call of duty and they haven't just looked after my grandad but the who family as well."
Natalie told how staff even saved her grandmother Vera's life when she was visiting her husband at the home in Oldham Street, Shaw.
"She collapsed and they made her go to A&E where she had a cardiac arrest," she explained.
"I am a nurse myself so I have got very high standards. There's just thousands of stories I can tell you about things the staff have done.
"They are all every day heroes and are the hardest working people I have ever seen - they don't get the recognition they deserve."
Joan Walton, general manager at Shaw Side, was delighted with the nomination and said: "I am biased but my staff here are fantastic. They are very caring and always, always willing to go the extra mile for anybody.
"My philosophy has always been that we don't just care for the person who is here, we care for the whole family."
