Meanwhile, Tameside Golf Clubs have a proud record of producing and developing top junior golfers over the years for Cheshire and Lancashire including the likes of Louise Brunt (Ashton) and Archie Palmer (Stamford).

Now juniors in the district can be inspired by the new Cheshire Boys Captain Dan Hayes, who has enjoyed a stellar year in 2022.

Dan’s story in 2022 is a great example of how to get to the top of your game.

The talented young star from Bramhall Golf club enjoyed a superb season in 2022 and he is looking forward to adding to his playing success in 2023.

Dan, who plays off +5 handicap, will also be possibly the youngest-ever Cheshire Boys Captain, aged 15, in the coming year.

He has already set a high standard for his junior colleagues in 2022 by representing England in the Italian u16’s championships, as Cheshire Boys Champion and in the County Champion of Champions final at Woodhall Spa at Woodhall Spa where he finished ninth.

He also won a place in the Justin Rose Daily Telegraph Junior Golf Championships at Quinta do Lago which had an original entry of 17,000 in the qualifying competitions

As well as being the Cheshire Boys Champion Dan was also the first winner of the new Cheshire trophy as Cheshire Boys Golfer of the Year.

Dan would like to thank all at his club, his family, Cheshire County and his coach Richard Green for their great support and encouragement in a very successful and busy year and he will be looking to lead Cheshire Boys from the front in 2023.
