Andy Joy crashes over for one of his two Oldham tries
Oldham RUFC were defeated 27-17 at Fleetwood.
The first 20 minutes was nip and tuck, with penalties to both sides exchanging field position.
Fleetwood tried to get the ball wide when they could and this led to their first try when they beat a narrow Oldham defence.
From the kick off they secured the ball again and with Oldham playing into the sun, cut down the left hand side this time to score again.
It seemed like it could be a long day in the office for Oldham.
Fleetwood then changed tac and kicked to the corner, and from a catch and drive, scored again.
At 17-0 the writing seemed to be on the wall.
The second half brought a change to proceedings.
Oldham decided that it was time to have a bit more of a go at Fleetwood.
Rhys Jones found his way to the ball to crash over from a great maul.
However, the hosts extended their lead to 27-5 and that seemed harsh at that stage.
Andy Joy later went over for a couple of tries, one of them converted, but try as they could in the last few minutes, Oldham could not get over for the bonus point try and the score finished 27-17
