The successful Saddleworth School Year 11 rugby team
The Saddleworth School Year 11 rugby team earned the title of Oldham Borough champions in the annual rugby league festival run by the Leeds Rhinos Foundation at Crompton House School.
Played in foul weather, the team were unbeaten in three games against the hosts, Failsworth and Blue Coat School.
Player of the tournament Harvey Warburton scored a brace of tries as Saddleworth ran up ten tries in all, while conceding just one in return.
The team, who are the current North-West Counties Schools' Plate champions, will now commence this year's Champion Schools tournament with home games against Bedford School and Cowley, in addition to an away trip to St Edmund Arrowsmith School in Wigan.
