Oldham boxing hero Mark Heffron has promised to light up the ring again tomorrow night (Saturday) as he fights for the first time since winning the British title in the summer.
Heffron (30) this time faces a tough-looking non-title eight-rounder against little-known Argentinian Martin Ezequiel Bulacio at the Manchester Arena.
This follows just two months since Heffron stormed to a breath-taking fifth-round stoppage victory against Lennox Clarke when he won the British Super Middleweight title, the IBF Intercontinental title, and the Commonwealth belt at the Copper Box Arena in London.
Asked about finally sealing British title glory some 12 years after making his professional debut, Heffron said: "It's meant the world me.
"Ever since I started boxing as a little kid I always wanted to win the British title, and now I've done it.
"I believe I can carry the flag for Manchester, I believe I can win more good fights and bring more titles back to Manchester.
"People can expect fireworks from me on Saturday.
"I think they should expect a very good performance and I'm looking forward to it.
"I'm facing a good, durable opponent from Argentina who's been in some good fights and had some good wins, but I'm looking forward to it and I'm ready."
Joe Gallagher-trained Heffron now boasts 28 wins (including 22 ko's) from 31 fights since joining the paid ranks.
Heading the Arena bill tomorrow are Joe Joyce and Joseph Parker going head to head for the vacant WBO Interim World Heavyweight title and Amanda Serrano and Sarah Mahfoud battling it out to unify the World featherweight crowns.
