It's time to make some noise for Oldham Pride this weekend!

The Pride parade, live musical performances and arts and crafts suitable for all the family are among the entertainment running all weekend from tomorrow

The ever-popular Oldham Pride festival is back this weekend, with a range of entertainment and activities across the town centre and Alexandra Park.

The Pride parade, live musical performances and arts and crafts suitable for all the family are among the entertainment running all weekend from tomorrow (Friday, July 21) to Sunday (July 23).

Kicking off the Pride weekend on Friday will be film screenings at Oldham Library, followed by a pre-Pride party at The George Tavern from 8pm, including cabaret and games hosted by Terri Fox.

The Pride parade event itself will take place the following day on Saturday, from 12noon onwards and will travel through the town centre to the Queen Elizabeth Hall where there will be community stalls, a youth event and a main stage cabaret until 7pm.  

The line-up of acts on offer include Kelly Wilde, Marigold Addams and The Glitter Palace Showgirls.

Oldham Play Action Group will also be providing free of charge Pride-themed arts and crafts in the Queen Elizabeth Hall from 10am until 7pm.

The party continues over at The George Tavern, with more cabaret performances into the evening.

A grand prize raffle will be drawn each day over the weekend - raffle tickets can be bought in advance for £1 from The George Tavern, Billingtons and in the Queen Elizabeth Hall.

And on Sunday, visitors can round off the celebrations by taking part in a family picnic from 1pm until 3pm at Alexandra Park, and a traditional Pride Service at 6pm at Oldham Parish Church.

Cllr Peter Dean, Cabinet Member for Communities and Culture, said: "It's great to see Oldham Pride back for another year, with entertainment suitable for all the family.

"This is such a fun, inclusive, weekend and I'd encourage anyone who hasn't enjoyed Pride before to go along.

“The LGBTQI community is a huge part of Oldham, and I am very pleased that we're able to support the Pride weekend once again, not least by hosting in our very own Queen Elizabeth Hall.

“Once again, Oldham Pride have managed to pull together a great line up of acts and activities, bringing our community together with a loud and proud celebration that everyone across our borough can enjoy."
