Latics chairman wishes supporters: "Merry Christmas and Happy New Year", after recovery from surgery

Latics chairman Frank Rothwell has wished people in Oldham a Merry Christmas, along with the club's supporters.

The chairman of Oldham Athletic, Frank Rothwell, has wished the club's supporters, their families and the people of Oldham: "A very Merry Christmas and a happy New Year", in a special message. 

In a video on the club's website he added that he and his wife Judith, along with his son and daughter: "Are all getting a real buzz out of joining supporters in this journey, with everyone at Oldham Atheltic." 

It's been six months since the family bought the club. 

Since then, Frank thinks Latics have turned a corner and says he's seeing a change in team playing. 

"In the New Year, I hope we'll start to see the club creep up the league."

At the moment the club is still going through due diligence, at the hands of lawyers and accountants, to bring it under one ownership. 

Frank says he's expecting progress on finalising the deal in January. 

It was nearly five weeks ago that the chairman had to undergo a major operation, for open heart surgery. 

He's been at the club twice since then though and says the only thing it has stopped him doing, is working on rebuilding his full sized steam traction engine. One of his major hobbies. 

"I'm very grateful and would like to thank to all the supporters, who have wished me well in my recovery."
