Graeme Park to bring 80s v 90s music battle to iconic Whittles at Tokyo venue

Date published: 05 September 2022

Legendary Hacienda DJ Graeme Park will now celebrate the best of 80s and 90s dance music in a unique event next month at Oldham's Whittles at Tokyo venue.

Graeme, who quickly became one of the biggest names on the emerging dance scene in the late 1980s, will host the huge 80s V 90s night on Friday, October 7, after today's (Monday) decision to switch the venue.

Aside from his nine-year residency at The Haç, Graeme was one of the first British DJs to play places like Australia, South America, the USA, Asia and beyond, as well as producing and remixing tracks for the dancefloor, including The Brand New Heavies, Inner City, Eric B & Rakim, New Order, Sophie Ellis-Bextor and others.

Now, you’re invited to come off the fence, and firmly decide which decade was best – the 80s or the 90s.

Playing alongside Parky on the night:

Kym Mazelle – ‘The First Lady of House’  Legendary vocalist: the voice of Soul II Soul’s ‘Missing You’, and ‘No More Tears’ with Jocelyn Brown.  Her cover of ‘Young Hearts Run Free’ was a massive hit in 1994.

Kym Mazelle (left) and Tina Cousins are performing live

Tina Cousins – 90s Dance Legend.  Tina’s career spiralled after she appeared on Sash’s international hit ‘Mysterious Times’ in 1997.  Two follow up singles ‘Pray’ and ‘Killing Time’ were also top 20 hits in the UK in 1998.

Becki De Funk – Live DJ set featuring house and deep disco

Matt Black – Live DJ set featuring commercial dance, hip-hop and house

If you were clubbing in the 80s to New Order, Black Box, and Chaka Khan, OR sweating in the 90s to Daft Punk, Fatboy Slim or Ultra Nate – then it’s time to put your money where your mouth is and shout for the biggest decade!

Hear 90s dance anthems and 80s club classics from the DJs and performers who were there.
