Date published: 06 April 2022
Steve Hill has taken on numerous gruelling challenges right across the world, and now he's off to Scotland.
Oldham's hero action teacher Steve Hill, MBE, is making final preparations for the Scottish Ultra X Marathon in a few weeks time.
The Ultra X 125 event takes place in the Scottish Highlands, a mountainous region in northwest Scotland, over 3 days, from May 6, 2022.
Steve says; "The terrain will be extremely tough. The event is a self-supported Ultra Marathon, where I will be sleeping in a tent each night!
"I’ll be carrying all my food, sleeping bag etc and everything I need for the 3 days. But I can’t wait to get to the start line!
"I’m feeling excited and looking forward to pushing myself in the remote mountains of Scotland."
Steve has been in training since October and told us he feels fit and strong, ready for the challenges that lie ahead.
The deputy head at St Joseph's Roman Catholic Primary School, has taken on some jaw dropping challenges over the last 13 years and managed to raise over £100,000 for various charities along the way.
He says he does it, to inspire his pupils and raise money to help good causes around the world.
He said: "The children at school are all excited too about being able to follow my progress whilst I’m away, as I’ll be carrying a tracker with me."
"I’m hoping to raise £1000 and have set up a Justgiving Page."
"My race number is 18."
