Want to win £500 for litter picking?
The Modern Milkman, a return and reuse grocery delivery service on a mission to reduce waste, is inviting Oldham community groups to get involved in a mass litter pick from July 31 - August 1.
Keep Britain Tidy have reported they expect to see litter in our parks grow 35-50% year on year.
Local community groups are already working hard to help clean up their local areas and The Modern Milkman want to reward them.
They want to use their platform to inspire communities to tackle the problem of litter together, and ultimately, use data to stop litter before it starts.
The Modern Milkman is encouraging community groups in Oldham to sign up, whether you’re a Scout group, football team or local litter picking champions already.
Once you’ve signed up as a group, you can get as many people as you want involved!
TMM will send each group a unique code that can be used to track litter through the Literati app.
While the groups are picking and logging litter between July 31 to August 1,
The Modern Milkman will be tracking the litter data to identify Manchester’s biggest litter issues and key offenders in the area to help reduce waste in the future.
This data will also be able to show which group picked the most litter.
Whichever group picks the most litter between this time will win £500 for their chosen community group.
Inspired by David Attenborough’s Blue Planet, The Modern Milkman was founded with a mission to reduce waste.
As a purpose-driven business, they are committed to making a positive impact on the environment and the communities they serve.
The Modern Milkman connects communities with fresh produce and groceries by offering deliveries from British farmers and independent suppliers direct to the doorstep.
The service goes beyond dairy rounds and delivers an extensive range of groceries in return and reuse packaging including soft drinks, tea and coffee and household products.
They also offer fresh fruits and vegetables, eggs, cereals, and baked goods sourced from sustainable suppliers, all plastic-free.
Simon Mellin, Founder and CEO of The Modern Milkman, said: “We want to help people do their bit in their communities to reduce the litter that impacts our green spaces and environment.
"With the rise in outdoor meetups, we fear that litter in our parks will only increase during the warmer months, so we want to help prevent this.
"We’ve seen the amazing work local community groups are doing in and around Manchester, and we want to inspire more litter picking within the communities and help support small changes to be part of the solution.
"Logging the litter through the app will help us to trace the source of the waste and enable us to use data to drive positive change in our community."
You can sign up from July 12 to get involved in their mission to reduce waste by completing the form here: https://blog.themodernmilkman.co.uk/
