Legend John gears up to release volume two of his magical Oldham footballing memories
Date published: 18 June 2021
Amateur football legend John Gilder
Following the success of John Gilder's first volume of amateur football memories in Oldham, which sold out in 14 days, the local author and former Chronicle writer has announced that the second volume will be published in August/September.
Whilst volume one (below) concentrated on his Match of the Day reports from 1995-2017, the second volume will highlight the news and views from the 1981-2017 period, during which time John was the Evening Chronicle newspaper's amateur football correspondent.
This will be a treasure-trove of amateur football information, including some quirky stories alongside the ups and downs and the trials and tribulations that always go hand in hand alongside the local game.
There will be 270 pages packed full of black and white and colour images in A4 format.
If the first volume was a 'starter', then this second helping is the 'main course'.
