Thumbs-up for 38 new homes in Alt

Date published: 12 June 2020

First Choice Home Oldham (FCHO)'s plans to build 38 new homes for affordable rent in Alt were unanimously approved by Oldham Council's Planning Committee members at their meeting on June 3.

The £6 million development on a brownfield site off Cherry Avenue, Alt, will comprise of ten two bedroom and 28 three bedroom family homes, along with improvements to the surrounding area which will benefit local residents.

With planning permission granted, FCHO anticipates that work will start on site with contractor Tyson Construction in October 2020, with project completion in February 2022.

Heidi Thompson, FCHO Executive Director of Homes and Investment, said: "We're working hard to create more homes for people in our borough, where there's a shortage of affordable and social housing.

"We’re investing £161 million over next six years, building over 850 new homes to help bridge the gap.

"This new scheme in Alt will go towards us reaching that target and create high quality, modern homes for people who need them."
