Oldham Council set to announce school reopening timetable

Some schools are expected to open on Jun 1st
Oldham Council is expected to outline plans to re-open schools in the borough this afternoon.
The government’s guidance is to reopen primary schools for Reception, Year 1 and Year 6 on June 1.
However, a number of councils have expressed concern about managing social distancing in the classroom when students return.
Manchester City Council said its schools will to "work at their own pace" to slowly increase numbers as lockdown eases. Stockport Council have announced their schools would not open until June 10 whilst social distancing measures are put in place.
Bury Council has announced they will not be following the government guidelines on re-opening schools. Cllr Cllr Tamoor Tariq, lead member for children’s services, schools and families at Bury Council said “Bury’s schools will reopen as soon as it is safe to do so."
Academies have the freedom to make their own decision on re-opening.
