Less than a fortnight after Oldham Foodbank suffered a break in – where tablet computers, a PC, hard drive, food, and around £200 in cash was stolen – the charity has been targeted again.
The foodbank’s van has been stolen from outside The Royal Oldham Hospital.
The charity tweeted on Wednesday morning, minutes after the incident happened.
They’re asking for people to keep an eye out for the vehicle, which is described as a blue Ford Transit van with the registration MK65 JBV.
The van has Oldham Foodbank branding on the side.
It’s less than ten days since the foodbank had a break in, which forced them to launch a crowdfunding campaign to keep providing for those most in need.
Manager of Oldham Foodbank, Lisa Leunig, said she was “so disheartened” and was just desperate for some good news.
Lisa said: “How low can people get? At this moment, I don’t know what we can do.
“I feel sick to my stomach that someone could steal a van used to get food for the foodbanks.
“We need the van. We have a lot of pick ups in different areas and we can’t do it in our cars.
“We’ll speak to the insurance company to see what they advise.
“The police have been told and we just hope that someone sees it and reports it, so hopefully we can get it back.
“Please, please bring the van back. It’s our lifeline to keep the foodbank going.
“If you have any information or see the van, please contact police or call me or Paul at the foodbank on 0161 622 1061.”
