Hockey: IT’S all systems go for another hectic year in the life of Oldham-born hockey star Nicola White.

Last year ended in disappointment for the 27-year-old London Olympics bronze-medallist, who wasn’t selected for the England squad for the Champions Trophy tournament in Argentina in November.

But 2015 brings new challenges and White is determined to force her way back into the international mix .

White is also looking to help push her Holcombe team - currently mid-table - to glory in the Investec Women’s Hockey League Premier Division.

“I’ve enjoyed a good first half of the season with Holcombe,” said White, who suffered the agony of defeat in the gold-medal match against Australia in the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

“We’ve got a few crucial games coming up, and I’m enjoying it down here.

“It was disappointing not to go to Argentina, but I’m fully focused on forcing my way back into contention this year. It’s a busy year.

White, who currently boasts 137 combined GB, England and indoor international caps, added: “It’s going to be tough this year, but it really is crucial that we qualify for the Olympics as much of the sport’s funding is based on qualification for the Games.”
