FINAL preparations are being made for the visit of Lashings All Stars to Shaw’s Mark Lane ground tomorrow.
Pakistani stars Saqlain Mustaq, Yasir Arafat and Mohammed Yousaf, West Indies batting great Gordon Greenidge and several former England internationals are set to thrill spectators in a special fund-raising match against a select XI from the host club (3.30pm).
The home side is bolstered by ex-professional Ryan Senior, as well as Heyside’s Nick Campbell and Delph’s Graeme Simpson — two former Shaw players.
Ex-Lancashire and England batsman Barry Wood, a pro for Shaw when they won the Tanner Cup as Shaw St Paul’s in 1989, is also expected to attend with his son Nathan.
Shaw’s class of 2014 is also well-represented, with current pro Ather Abid and Kane and Drew Fullalove in the ranks.
With a promising weather forecast, a big crowd is expected at ‘The Clough’ to watch the Twenty20 clash. Gate receiptswill go to Harry Andrew, the Shaw club legend paralysed from the neck down following a freak accident last year.
