Foursomes
BLACKLEY Golf Club won the Manchester and District Alliance Team Foursomes, the final of which was played a Worsley Marriott.
The summer-long competition was open to all clubs in Manchester, and Blackley came out on top in the final against Dukinfield.
They won 5-2 with victories from Brian Johnson and Chris Thompson, Alan Burton and Phil Marcroft, Alan Lane and Duncan Teal, Ali White and Billy Radcliffe and Steve Newton and John Hibbert.

IAN GILLIES won the singles Stableford at WERNETH, beating Liam Dwayre on a card play-off after both had finished with 43 points.
DAVE FOX and Ian Buckley emerged victorious in a four-ball Stableford at SADDLEWORTH.
They recorded 47 points, two clear of Gerry Hobbs and Tony Griffiths, with Nick Sunderland and Ray Dean (44pts) in third place.
NORMAN FIRTH, Keith Masters, Eric Friar and Brian Howarth won CROMPTON AND ROYTON’S team medal, with two from four balls to score.
The quartet totalled 109, a shot clear of second-placed Stuart Thompson, Andrew Bottomley, Ken Jackson and Alex Hopkinson.
Chris King, Andy Allen, Landy Wild and Steven Bower were third on 112.
MARTIN Lewis and John Waterhourse teamed up to win Oldham Golf Club’s Bisque bogey competition with a score of plus 11.
Next on plus 10 came Mick Jones and Dave Bruce, who beat Lee Newsome and Paul Bromley and Frank Wardley and Pete Bromley on countback.
TONY HALES, Stuart Fletcher and Dave Rice won a 12-hole Texas Scramble at STAMFORD with a net 37 and 10/15ths.
Second were Stuart Dunkerley, Ted McDermott and Barry Dickenson (37 and 12/15s), while Colin Farr, Guy Hall and Keith Coxon (38 and 8/15s) were third.
CLIFF Barrett scored 39 Stableford points to win an end-of-season competition at BLACKLEY.
Danny Speight (38) was second, ahead of Andy Blezard (37).
Garry Baldwin scored 45 points to win another singles Stableford at Blackley, beating Andy White on a card play-off. Andy Bardsley (41 points) was third.
The Maniacs League event on Sunday was called off because of adverse weather.
WOMEN’S GOLF
A STABLEFORD at BLACKLEY was won by Ann Kelly (35 points), who beat Brenda Simpson (33) and Yuk-Lin Yiu (31), the latter winning a card play-off for third with Anne Tyrer.
JEAN BARNES posted 31 points to claim top honours in an individual Stableford at SADDLEWORTH. Pauline Richardson was a point adrift in second.
