School sweeps board at Boundary Park finals
FOOTBALL: FIVE Failsworth School sides won every age group going in the Oldham Schools FA League Cup finals at Boundary Park.
They swept the boards in each category, from Year Seven through to Year 11.
Failsworth are the first school to not only reach the final in every age section but also walk away with all the silverware.
Max Davidson scored a hat-trick and Bradley Coe also netted as the Year Sevens beat Crompton House 4-0.
The Year Eights swept aside North Chadderton 10-0 thanks to trebles from Callum Scullion and Jack Roberts. They were joined on the scoresheet by Marshall Roberts, Jamie Stott, Louis Myers and Nathan Chorlton.
Jack Holmes struck three times and Olafemi Ogunnuga was also on target in the Year Nines’ 4-1 defeat of Radclyffe.
The Year 10s beat North Chadderton 3-1 through a Luke Daly brace and Callum Holland’s long-range strike.
And Michael Dobson got the winner as the Year 11s edged out Royton and Crompton 1-0.
Shaun Dean, who runs the football teams at Failsworth School, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have won every final.
“I knew we had good players, but it is always a tall order to win everything.
“It means a lot to be the first school to reach all the finals in each category, but also win them all.
“There were plenty of highlights, with Max, Callum, Jack Roberts and Jack Holmes all getting hat-tricks.
“Callum Holland’s goal for the Year 10s was from about 40 yards too, what a goal that was.
“Everyone played their part, not just the goalscorers. Brandon Preston was man-of-the-match for the Year Nines, and the Year 11s’ best performer was Ashley Bagshaw.
“We are going to enjoy this achievement, especially when it has fully sunk in.”
