Athletic new stand: full opening closer?

ATHLETIC officials were this morning facing a race against time to get the new North Stand passed for a partial opening for tomorrow’s home game.

A meeting was due this morning, at which the club aimed to meet a set of stringent conditions so their proposed “test event” could be certified. That would allow season ticket holders to take their seats in the long-awaited North Stand for the first time.

Athletic’s aim this week has been to have the main seating deck and concourse bars open tomorrow, with the new club shop also in operation.

UPDATE: The club have released a statement saying that they will release a "definitive statement" as soon as they are able to.
