Ghost walk

STEP back in time to find out more about the town’s macabre and bloody past.
Chadderton Historical Society is staging its popular history and mystery ghost walk on February 11. Meet at Chadderton Precinct at 7.30pm, under 16s must be accompanied. Donations are welcome and all inquiries to 0161-652 3930.
ST George’s Over 60s Centre, St George’s Square, holds a whist drive every Thursday and Saturday, from 7.15pm. New members are welcome, contact John Attree on 0161-633 3996 for information.
CHILDREN aged from seven to 11 can enjoy a Valentine’s Disco at Yew Tree After School Club, Alcester Street, from 6 to 7.30pm on Saturday, February 13. Ticket only, admission £4. Contact info@fullcirculenwcic.co.uk.
A WOOD carving group meets at the Crossley Centre, Denton Lane, from 9.30am to 2pm on Wednesdays. Annual membership is £10, weekly fees £5, with equipment provided.
MOTIVATIONAL speaker Richard McCann, whose mother was the Yorkshire Ripper’s first victim, talked to Year 10 and 11 students at Newman College, Broadway.
WANT to get fit and run a 5K or 10k? Oldham and Royton Harriers is holding a weekly beginners running group at Radclyffe, Athletic Centre, Hunt Lane, from Monday, February 8, until April 11. Sessions start at 6.45pm. For information contact petecw29@aol.com.
