Bookies give Latics a fighting chance

ATHLETIC may be second from bottom in Sky Bet League One, but the bookmakers haven’t given up hope for them.

Colchester (1-12) and Crewe (1-10) are rated virtual certainties to be relegated, but Latics are 1-2 and in with a fighting chance of survival, say the odds layers.

Four other clubs seem to be in the relegation mix – Shrewsbury (11-8 to drop), Blackpool (7-4), Chesterfield (2-1) and Fleetwood (13-5).

Latics need to find their shooting boots quickly - but given the odds above, they are clearly in with a fighting chance of survival.

WHO would have thought that as early as February, Manchester City would have been out to 7-1 to win the Barclays Premier League title?

Their second successive defeat to title rivals, this time Tottenham, was a crushing blow to City’s hopes. But the result certainly did Spurs no harm and they are now 13-5 to come out on top, with North London rivals Arsenal – last-gasp 2-1 winners against leaders Leicester – the 13-8 favourites and Leicester 3-1. Manchester United, who are without the injured Wayne Rooney for six weeks, are 150-1.

ENGLAND’S one-day cricketers revert to T20 format tomorrow after their 3-2 ODI series defeat against South Africa. I expect them to shine in the shorter format so the 11-10 about them winning tomorrow’s first of two T20 internationals against the Proteas should be snapped up.

RECOMMENDATION: England to beat South Africa in T20 tomorrow, 11-10 (general).
