United a financial powerhouse
Date published: 21 January 2016
Manchester United are expected to go back to the top of football's Money League for the first time in 1s2 years as English clubs increase their financial stranglehold on the European game.
United's return to the top of the Deloitte money league has been forecast despite the club dropping to third place in the rankings behind Real Madrid and Barcelona - mainly due to the absence of a Champions League run last season. But United's return to Europe's elite club competition and the impact of a huge new Adidas sponsorship deal should see United take top place for the first time since 2004.
English clubs dominate the top 20 richest clubs, and their position will become even stronger next season when massive Premier League TV deals, expected to top £8billion over three years, come into play.
