City spurred on by terrific Delph

IT was quite ironic to note that despite Manchester City not creating anywhere near as many chances as they normally do, they still cruised to a 4-0 win against Crystal Palace.

It’s another measure of how strong City is, I believe, because Palace are a good side this season and that result came out of the blue. When City are on the front foot though, they really are a force to be reckoned with.

As well as having Sergio Aguero and Kevin de Bruyne firing on all cylinders now, I thought Fabian Delph and Yaya Toure were exceptional on Saturday.

Fabian is a strong all-round player. He works so hard in the middle of the park and his overall work-rate is phenomenal. He scored a great goal, and he’s capable of turning defence into attack very quickly.

He’s a nice lad as well.

Yaya produced a great performance in a more advanced midfield role. I think having him further forward suits his game much more than having to think more about tracking back and defending.

He’s a really powerful, positive player and some of his bursts towards opposition goal are awesome.

His surging run from the middle of the park is quite unique, and the sheer size of him must strike fear into opposing defenders.

Now it’s a welcome free week for City before they head to West Ham in the Premier League at the weekend. The Hammers are another side doing well this season. They look much more solid, but can be inconsistent. They’re capable of pulling some great results out of the bag, like they did when they won at the Etihad earlier this season.

On the flip side, they are prone to suffering defeats just when you least expect it, much like last Saturday’s defeat by Newcastle.
