Pellegrini waits on key City duo

MANCHESTER City boss Manuel Pellegrini says Yaya Toure and David Silva were both injured for the FA Cup win against Norwich — but expects the duo to return against Everton on Wednesday.
City proved themselves a class above at Carrow Road as goals from Sergio Aguero, Kelechi Iheanacho and Kevin De Bruyne sealed a 3-0 victory and passage into the fourth round.
Pellegrini made seven changes to his starting line–up, in what looked like a ploy to rest players, but the Chilean later revealed injuries had forced his hand.
City can ill–afford to lose any more key names, with captain Vincent Kompany, Eliaquim Mangala and Samir Nasri all on the sidelines, while Aguero has only recently returned from a heel problem.
Pellegrini hopes Silva and Toure will both be back against Everton, along with Fernandinho, who was also unavailable.
“I hope at least Yaya, Fernandinho and Silva will be back on Wednesday.”
The win at Norwich was only City’s second victory in eight away matches and Pellegrini was pleased to answer the criticism about his team’s form on the road.
“Maybe we had a lot of criticism in the last week because we were not winning away, but I am always very happy with the way we play away,” Pellegrini said.
“We try to do the same things, to play attractive football.
“I think the fans enjoy our football and we demonstrated it doesn’t matter who plays, the mentality is always the same.”
