Sport Betting: OLDHAM’S Kevin Sinfield is one of 12 candidates named for the BBC Sports Personality of the Year award.

When the nominations were revealed on Monday, Sinfield was a 66-1 shot; now the best price available is 25-1 - significantly lower wwith some bookies.

Andy Murray (10-11) and Jessica Ennis-Hill (15-8) have flip-flopped as favourites this week, which is hardly surprising given the recent nature of Murray’s Davis Cup heroics.

World heavyweight boxing champion Tyson Fury is not everyone’s cup of tea, but he is certainly not out of this and 12-1 is a fair price.

Other prices: 20-1 Lewis Hamilton; 66-1 Chris Froome; 100-1 Mo Farah; 200-1 Greg Rutherford; 250-1 Adam Peaty, Lizzie Armitstead, Max Whitlock and Lucy Bronze.

THE draw has been made for the PDC World Darts Championship and it is no surprise to see Michael van Gerwen a red-hot favourite at 6-5.

MVG has mopped up virtually all the major tournaments this season and the only thing than can stop him at Alexandra Palace is a sudden form slump or an opponent playing out of his skin for a night. Both scenarios are unlikely.

The one name that jumped out at me was Michael Smith. This lad is on the way up and I would have nominated him each-way at 50-1 (half-odds if losing in the final) had he not been in the same section as the favourite.

STRICTLY Come Dancing and the X Factor seem to have been dominating our Saturday night TV viewing for an eternity, but the end of the road for both is in sight with Christmas around the corner.

Louisa Johnson has long been dominating the X Factor betting and is now a best-priced 2-5 to win.

The other three survivors are Reggie N Bollie (6-1), Che Chesterman (10-1) and Lauren Murray (11-1).

SCD has six still standing, headed by long-time favourite Jay McGuinness (4-7), who has been at the front of the market since the first few weeks of the competition when he performed a stunning jive with his dance partner, Aliona Vilani.

The rest are women, following last weekend’s exit of Peter Andre. They are Georgia May Foote (7-2), Anita Rani (10-1), Helen George (18-1), Katie Derham (33-1) and Kellie Bright (40-1).
