Herrera backing Rooney

BUOYED by their midweek Champions League victory, Manchester United will be hoping to continue that form into this weekend’s Premier League action.

United are preparing for tomorrow’s visit of West Brom who, under pragmatic boss Tony Pulis, are often difficult to break down despite conceding three times against free-scoring Leicester last

weekend. With United struggling for goals, tomorrow’s fixture could prove to be another tight affair.

But now Wayne Rooney is back on the scoresheet with his goal against Moscow, his United colleague Ander Herrera is convinced more goals will follow.

Spanish midfielder Herrera said: “He is one of the best players in the world. I try to not read what the critics say too much. I try to create my own opinion and my opinion is clear — Wayne Rooney is one of the best.”

Herrera believes Rooney’s game is about much more than just his goals ratio.

“He is one of the stars, but he is not selfish,” Herrera added. “If he scores, of course it is much better for everyone, but if he doesn’t score, he fights in the same way.”

United go into tomorrow’s game in fourth place and know they can ill afford slip-ups if they are to keep tabs on neighbours City and Arsenal, who are first and second on goal difference.
