Sport Betting:
KEVIN Sinfield will make his last appearance in a Leeds Rhinos shirt on Saturday night when his team takes on Wigan in Super League’s Grand Final.
The Oldhamer is to try his hand at rugby union with Yorkshire Carnegie, and good luck to him.
Hopefully Sinfield will bow out in style on Saturday, but the bookies are not confident about the outcome. Ot’s even money the pair so this is one game I will be watching without having a wager.
ENGLAND’S early exit has taken much of the gloss off the Rugby World Cup and has seemingly left it at the mercy of the Southern hemisphere nations.
New Zealand are 5-4 favourites to lift the Webb Ellis Trophy, but Australia have looked a better team to me and appeal at 3-1. South Africa, having recovered from their embarrassment at the hands of Japan, are 15-2, while Ireland – this column’s selection during the early stages of the tournament – are 10-1, France 12-1 and Wales a stand-out 20-1 with Boylesports.
ARSENAL’S 3-0 demolition of Manchester United has seen them take second place in the betting for the Barclays Premier League title. Manchester City, who returned to the top thanks to a Sergio Aguero-inspired 6-1 defeat of Newcastle, are 8-11 favourites, but United – who were chasing shadows for the first half against the Gunners – are out to 8-1.
ENGLAND’S cricketers begin their three-Test series against Pakistan next week, but the wickets at Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah will be far removed from those on which they beat Australia this summer.
Spin will rule and that is an aspect of the game in which Pakistan are much superior to us.
Last time the sides met in this part of the world, Pakistan won 3-0 and I expect them to come out on top again, although England have enough talent to win one of the Tests.
RECOMMENDATION: Pakistan to beat England 2-1 in three-Test series, 6-1 (Stan James).
