SPORTS BETTING:

MANCHESTER United have crept to the top of the Barclays Premier League table almost unnoticed.

While one can argue that Manchester City’s recent implosion, Chelsea’s continued troubles and Arsenal’s inconsistencies have opened the door, the league table doesn’t lie.

United were a generous 10-1 for the title two weeks ago; now they’re a generous 5-1. The bookies must know something I don’t. I am not saying United are the most likely winners, but they are overpriced.

They have a decent squad and a manager with a proven track record. The United manager is nicknamed “Lucky” Louis van Gaal. Judging by the favourable inadequacies of United’s title opponents, he might just be living up to his name.

United’s Manchester rivals, City, have drifted to 10-11 to win the title, while Arsenal can be backed at 4-1 and Chelsea 9-1.

ENGLAND are out to 8-1 from 9-2 to win the Rugby World Cup following their late collapse against Wales on Saturday

Coach Stuart Lancaster made some strange decisions before and during the Wales defeat and must get it right when our boys take on Australia this weekend.

England are 5-6 to win this crunch game with Australia 13-10. Yet England are a best-priced 1-2 to qualify for the knock-out stages. Given their odds for the Australia game, I would not be touching that price with a barge pole.
