Hammers result beyond belief

I WAS absolutely aghast at the final scoreline when Manchester City played West Ham at the Etihad Stadium.

It was unbelievable that West Ham came away 2-1 winners: City totally annihilated them!

If that was a match between the top two teams in the Premier League, then I’m stunned. City were 18 time better than the Hammers on the day.

It was just one of those days for City. No matter what they did, the ball just wouldn’t go in, especially in the second half.

City created 28 chances in that second period, but the West Ham goalkeeper had a blinder, they defended like Trojans, blocking everything in their path. It was a very false result in the end, but I don’t think anyone could complain about the overall performance. In fact I don’t think anyone could have complained if City had won by five or six.

Despite a good performance there will be changes I’m sure for tonight’s League Cup game at Sunderland.

It’s proving more a competition for the so-called fringe players to get a chance, and I don’t see a different approach tonight.

I was back on website commentary duty on Saturday at the Etihad, and beforehand I did a little feature on the fans’ best tattoos.

I looked at a few around the stadium, but the best was a quite brilliant one that belonged to a bloke who had the Sergio Aguero title-winning goal tattooed all down his left arm, with illustrations of the goal and the lead up to it, and with bits of the commentary quoted in between.

It was brilliant. I’ve never seen a tattoo like it!
