TRIBUTES have been pouring in for Manchester City legend Neil Young, who passed away following a brave battle with cancer.

A minute’s applause took place prior to our 3-0 win over West Bromwich Albion at Eastlands, and the players donned black armbands.

Though I didn’t know Neil personally, I played against him a couple of times and of course will always remember his winner in the FA Cup final against Leicester City in 1969.

He was a classy player. Tall, elegant — everything he did was so neat. He was one of those lads who didn’t have pace but didn’t actually need it, because he was so clever.

Neil is a very sad loss to Manchester City and our thoughts are with his family.

We always looked comfortable against the Baggies in what turned out to be Roberto Di Matteo’s final game in charge of the Midlands outfit.

Carlos Tevez scored a hat-trick and I think he is pretty much guaranteed to make the PFA Player of the Year shortlist.

Our captain has as good a chance as anyone of winning the award if he keeps up the kind of form he has shown so far this season.

With Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal all dropping points, the top of the table has opened up again.

We travel to Old Trafford for the derby on Saturday for what should be a cracking game.

As always we are classed as the underdogs, but I do not necessarily see it that way. We have a better chance than ever before of getting a positive result.

MICAH Richards suffered a nasty head injury in the 2-2 draw at Birmingham City, from which he is still recovering.
It is bad timing for Micah because he was not available for selection for the England squad to face Denmark tomorrow.

Had he been fit, I believe Fabio Capello would have included Micah in his plans.
