NETBALL: NORTHERN Thunder made it two wins out of two in the 2011 Fiat Superleague campaign with a 60-38 victory over Surrey Storm.

Thunder held a 22-19 advantage at the break, despite some great defensive zoning by Storm. This created problems for Karen Greig, who struggled to find her trademark accuracy.

At the other end, another great performance by Kerry Almond and player-of-the-match Emma Dovey kept Storm’s Rachel Dunn in check.

Captain Greig was an altogether different proposition in the third quarter, firing home a perfect 15 goals from 15 attempts.

Jess Langman made an impact coming on at wing attack, bringing pace, precision and a bounce pass on to the court.

She helped turn the game in Thunder’s favour in the last 30 minutes of the match.

Thunder had to make adjustments in the circle in the final quarter after Kathryn Turner suffered an ankle injury.

Charlie Beenham did well in her place, with five from five after a disappointing first quarter.

NORTHERN Thunder play Leeds Carnegie at The Castle Leisure Centre, Bury, on Saturday (6pm).
