THERE was a nervy ending to Manchester City’s 4-3 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers at Eastlands as the visitors piled forward in search of an equaliser, but we managed to hold on to claim all three points.

Mick McCarthy’s men played well, which should not be too surprising as they have already beaten ourselves, Chelsea and Liverpool this season.

We had a few chances when it was 4-1 to put the game to bed, but a couple of late goals made it a close affair.

The first of Carlos Tevez’s two goals was one of his best since his arrival at the club. It was a wonderful solo effort which epitomised everything he is about — strength, determination and passion.

His second goal, a header, was a belter too.

Debutant Edin Dzeko was impressive, especially when you consider he has come to a new league.

He has a good touch for a big man, held the ball up well, and was involved in Yaya Toure’s goal.

It won’t happen overnight for Edin, because he needs to get used to his

surroundings. A prime example of this is David Silva.

He had a shaky start in his first few games for the Blues after signing from Valencia, but now he looks world class.

David is a key member of the squad and it was good to have him back from injury against Wolves.

With the Manchester derby coming up in a few weeks, it is important to have everyone fit.

I WAS delighted to see my old team, Athletic, earn a 2-0 win at Plymouth Argyle in npower League One.
It is never an easy place to go and I know the coach journey back home after a defeat is no fun at all.

The six-hour trip Paul Dickov’s men made must have felt a bit shorter after claiming three points.

I think they have a chance of finishing in the play-off places this season.

There is no question the attitude and work ethic will always be there, but it probably hinges on goals.

If someone can score 15 between now and the end of the season, or two or three players can share that amount, they have a great chance.

It could go right to the wire and if that happens, how great would it be to see a full house at Boundary Park?
