Heino has World Cup in his sights

CRICKET: FORMER Werneth professional Heino Kuhn is in the preliminary 30–man squad named by South Africa for next year's World Cup.
The wicketkeeper/batsman joined Oldham as overseas amateur in 2004 before moving to the Coppice as professional a year later.
He has performed well when given the chance by the Proteas, but will face stiff competition for places in the final World Cup squad as he is one of five wicketkeepers in the 30.
RYAN Carters, who played for Royton as overseas amateur in 2009, made a notable contribution for his state side Victoria in last week’s match against England.
The game ended in a draw, but wicketkeeper/batsman Carters made scores of 16 and 68 and also caught out England skipper Andrew Strauss.
THE draw for the 2011 Wood Cup competition has not been kind to our local clubs.
Three of the four have been drawn away from home in the first round on Sunday, May 22, Werneth and Crompton facing particularly strong opposition.
Werneth travel to Heywood, while Crompton must go to Littleborough.
Royton and new skipper Alan Durose face a tricky tie at Radcliffe, but Oldham will be confident of making progress after being pitched against Ashton at home.
