Tevez: My rift with City beyond repair
Date published: 13 December 2010
Carlos Tevez insists he alone is responsible for deciding he wants to leave Manchester City.
The Blues striker has had his transfer request turned down but after admitting last night his relationship with senior members of the City hierarchy had broken down "beyond repair" it is hard to see how Tevez has a future at Eastlands.
City have been quick to blame Tevez's long–time advisor Kia Joorabchian given they had been under the impression their star man wanted a lucrative new contract extension.
But Tevez is adamant he is big enough to make his own decisions.
"I hugely resent the management's suggestions that I have been unduly influenced by others," said Tevez. "It was my decision and mine alone.
"I wanted to leave in the summer, but was convinced to return to the club. Sadly, my feelings have not changed.
"I am disappointed that the management should now see fit to try to portray the situation in another light.”
Tevez has exonerated manager Roberto Mancini from the fall–out, and has praised owner Sheikh Mansour for his understanding. Tevez is said to be missing his young daughters, at home in Argentina.
For City, this could hardly be a more serious issue, or come at a worse time given Tevez's obvious importance.
With Emmanuel Adebayor virtually certain to leave next month and questions over Mario Balotelli's temperament increasing over the weekend, Tevez is a key figure in Mancini's planning for the remainder of the campaign.
City says Tevez’s contract still has over three years to run and the door remains open for Carlos to be selected to play.
