TWO local teenagers have been promoted to the Salford City Reds’ Super League squad for season 2010.

Ben Wood, formerly of Saddleworth Rangers, and ex-Waterhead youngster Marc Sneyd will move into their first-team environment when the players return for pre-season training in mid-November.

Director of Football Steve Simms said: “We are excited to give Ben and Marc the opportunity to progress their future development with us.

“They have both come through our set-up since scholarship level and we are looking for them to progress in the same manner as the likes of Stefan Ratchford and Luke Adamson.

“They have both jumped at the chance to sign a full-time deal and they can only benefit by being surrounded by the high-calibre of the first team squad.”

Head of Youth Development Alan Hunte added: “Marc is another player that has got better since coming through our scholarship.

“He’s a very talented pivot with an outstanding kicking game.

“He is only 18 and has been with us since he was 14 and he now he has every opportunity to progress so much further in the game.

“Ben has been with us since he was 16 and he is a huge prospect. He has all the attributes to play Super League at 6ft 4in, and he’s a big athletic forward.”
