Lancashire open up with wins

LANCASHIRE began the County Championship series with a double success over Cumbria.
The open age team won 32-12 at Ince Rose Bridge despite the visitors holding an 8-6 lead at the interval.
The home team opened the scoring through former Roughyeds triallist Carl Redford of Leigh East, Wigan St Patrick's centre Ian Schofield converting.
Cumbria hit back through Kells’ Scott Lofthouse, Ryan Robb of Wath Brow converting and adding a penalty.
Lancashire came out firing in the second half and Simon Stephens went over, Schofield adding a conversion before Wigan St Patrick's hooker Gary Phillips went over.
Dane Evans of Bank Quay Bulls scored another for Lancashire before Dave Bullough crossed on his home ground. Wigan St Cuthbert's man Jamie Dallimore added the final try, Schofield converting twice more before a late consolation effort from Wath Brow's Fran King.
The next match in the series sees Cumbria take on Yorkshire on October 25.
In the under-19s County Championship clash, Lancashire hammered Cumbria 59-22.
