Inspired substitutions by Jose Mourinho ended up winning a tight match at Old Trafford to maintain a 100% record for Manchester United as Marcus Rashford and Marouane Fellaini scored late goals to beat a spirited Leicester side.
A marginal offside decision on Juan Mata, who thought he had scored in the first half, and a penalty save by Kasper Schmeichel off Romelu Lukaku made it seem like the day wasn't going to belong to the Reds.
United opted for just one change from the Swansea win, with Anthony Martial starting in place of Marcus Rashford after scoring two goals as a sub this season.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan was denied by Schmeichel after just 22 seconds as United came out of the blocks quickly looking for the first goal.
Juan Mata thought he had scored after 18 minutes but he was offside after pouncing on a saved 20 yard shot by Lukaku and saw another chance saved by Schmeichel.
The Foxes did play a full part in the game, with de Gea making saves from Shinji Okazaki and Riyad Mahrez, but Kasper Schmeichel was the busier of the keepers with Paul Pogba testing him with a clutch of chances from range.
United's pressure won a penalty early in the second half after Danny Simpson handled Anthony Martial's cross in the 53rd minute.
Romelu Lukaku's penalty, however, was too close to Kasper Schmeichel and at a nice height for him to save as the Dane guessed correctly which way the Belgian would go making this the third penalty save in five attempts for Schmeichel.
Mourinho brought Marcus Rashford on after 67 minutes and 3 minutes later the England striker thrashed Henrikh Mkhitaryan's corner into the roof of the net from eight yards out.
Two United subs combined to make the game safe late on as Jesse Lingard raced into the Leicester area and crossed the ball for an easy tap-in for Marouane Fellaini from seven yards out with eight minutes to go.
Andy King and Lukaku missed chances to score in injury time but United eased to victory.
