All bodes well for next season at City

OF course there had been great expectations at Manchester City at the beginning of the season when Pep Guardiola went in there as manager, but I wouldn't say it's been a disappointing campaign.

A third place finish in the Premier League is good, and an FA Cup semi-final appearance, though I guess many fans would have liked to have gone a little further in the Champions League.

LEARNED

Despite not winning a trophy this time, much bodes well for next season at City, in my opinion.

Mr Guardiola will have learned a lot from his first season in England.

Don't forget he inherited the vast majority of his squad this time, so now this summer I expect to see a few changes in there.

The manager has a chance to develop his squad even further, and I do expect City to be much more successful next season.

There have been slight blips here and there this term, but overall the team has played well.

City always create loads of chances - it's just that probably too many of those were missed, resulting in the third place finish.

The recent run of form has been excellent, and to be honest that could well be down to the return of Vincent Kompany from injury.

He makes such a phenomenal difference when he's in and around the team.

On Sunday against Watford, City were just brilliant.

They scored five, but could so easily have had 10.

It was like men against boys, so hopefully that kind of form can be maintained going into the 2017-18 campaign.

Mr Guardiola now has a full season under his belt and the future looks bright.

REJUVENATED

By August we should all see a rejuvenated squad back in action and I'm excited about it already.

Don't forget to watch out for the '93:20' video hitting the City website any day now.

We've worked so hard on pulling it all together to celebrate five years since that epic late title-winning goal by Sergio Aguero against QPR.

I'll be back in August.

Have a great summer.
