Focused Delph is totally committed

FABIAN Delph has promised Manchester City he will never give anything less than 100-per-cent for the club - on or off the field.

The England midfielder has returned from the wilderness by playing the full 90 minutes in each of City's last two Premier League games.

He capped the second of those matches, Saturday's comfortable 3-1 win over Hull at the Etihad Stadium, with a superb long-range strike.

Prior to last week's defeat at Chelsea, his previous start in the Premier League came last May.

HAMPERED

The 27-year-old has been hampered by fitness issues in his two seasons at City but this term he has also had to bide his time since recovering from a groin injury suffered last September.

He said: "I'm a really positive person and all through my life and career I have been a hard worker and a believer that hard work will get repaid and rewarded.

"There isn't a day I have not worked hard and in the last couple of games the manager has repaid me.

"I had the opportunity to play two games and have done okay in both.

"It's frustrating not to be playing but you have to keep going.

"It's an unbelievable squad, where everyone is very talented.

"I knew when I came here I wouldn't play 60 games a season, but it was an opportunity to better myself and possibly win trophies.

"If I can help the team, I am more than happy, if selected.

"You get nothing but 100 per cent if I am selected to play and if I don't play you will find me in the dressing room, screaming and geeing the boys up.

"I don't look too far ahead, and as long as we get three points every week I am happy."

UNSURE

City are still unsure when young striker Gabriel Jesus will be back in action despite the Brazilian's return to training last week.

Jesus, who scored three goals in five games after joining City in January, has been out since breaking a bone in his foot two months ago.

Manager Pep Guardiola thinks it is unlikely the 20-year-old will be back for the FA Cup semi-final against Arsenal later this month.

Guardiola said: "When is the semi-final? Two weeks? I think he's short. We thought the semi-final of the Champions League but unfortunately it's gone.

"Hopefully the (FA Cup) final if we arrive there.

"I don't know, but he's getting better."
