Sunderland victory was like men versus boys

MANCHESTER City secured a rather routine Premier League victory at Sunderland.

To be honest it was like men versus boys at times. City were completely and utterly dominant.

The number of chances City created was ridiculous. I looked at the statistics after the game and they told their own story.

Sunderland didn't do too bad in the first half and Jermain Defoe hit a post of course, but it had been a fully-deserved win and City continue their pursuit of Chelsea.

They're still playing catch-up, but it's going to be a monumental game when the Blues head to Stamford Bridge on Wednesday, April 5.

CLOSER

Pep Guardiola's men can drag themselves a bit closer to Chelsea if they beat Stoke at the Etihad Stadium tomorrow night.

Again, they will be strongly fancied to beat Mark Hughes's team, but Mr Guardiola won't underestimate anyone and it has the potential to be a really tricky fixture.

Then it's back on the FA Cup trail on Saturday lunchtime with the huge quarter-final tie at Middlesbrough.

That's another huge game with potentially massive rewards.

Win at an out-of-sorts Boro and City fans will have another trip to Wembley to look forward to for the semi-finals.

Now it's got to this stage of the competition you are so close to going all the way. I'm sure Mr Guardiola will have nothing other than victory in his thoughts ahead of the tie.

Meanwhile, myself and a club camera crew have been out to visit former City captain and legend Richard Dunne.

We're doing a little feature for the City website where Dunney - who lives in France now - gives us a little tour of Monaco for the benefit of the fans who will be heading out there next week for the Champions League last 16 second leg tie.

It's going to be a great little video, looking at the ground and the area around it from a fans' perspective.
