Blues turn the game on its head

WHAT a brilliant second-half performance it was from Manchester City on Sunday as they turned the Arsenal game on its head to secure a much-needed Premier League victory.

To be honest, I didn't think City played too badly in the first period, but they certainly didn't create too many chances.

Whatever manager Pep Guardiola said at the interval definitely worked.

City swept aside Arsenal in that second 45 minutes, they absolutely dominated.

City upped the tempo significantly and really got into Arsenal's faces. That's just what I wanted to see and in the end I thought they were worthy winners.

In the grand scheme of things it was a huge victory.

After a couple of iffy results in recent weeks the three points fired the Blues back up to second place in the table (ahead of last night's Merseyside derby) and they're right back in touch again.

CLAWED BACK

Of course Chelsea are flying high at the moment, but the gap is back down to seven points now and that can soon be clawed back over the next month or so.

The festive period games are going to be really interesting.

Next up for City on Boxing Day is a trip to a Hull City side who are really struggling.

You would hope that City can pick up three points from that game and then the momentum starts to build again.

It promises to be a belter when Guardiola takes his team to Liverpool for the New Year's Eve game.

That match won't be for the faint-hearted as there will be so much at stake with both sides right up there on Chelsea's heels.

With City having those two away fixtures over Christmas I'm hoping to take a few days off, so all the very best to all Chronicle readers.

I'll be back on Thursday week.
