NUMBER one ranked darts star Michael van Gerwen has spoken of his desire to win everything he can as looks to wrestle back the World Championship title - and that includes his upcoming tournament at Queen Elizabeth Hall in Oldham.

Van Gerwen has dominated the PDC circuit in 2016, winning over 20 titles including the Premier League, World Matchplay, World Grand Prix, Masters and UK Open but the Dutchman has revealed that the prize he really wants in the Sid Waddell Trophy and the title that comes with it - world champion.

PLAN

The Dutch ace has revealed his plan to get back the title he won in 2014 and that is to simply keep winning.

"I want to win everything and I mean everything," said van Gerwen, who is set to star in the second annual Night of Champions on Friday, December 9.

"I have won most events I have played in this year and I want to keep that going. I want to make my opponents believe that they can't beat me.

"So when I come to Oldham I will be trying my hardest to win that too.

"Especially because I didn't win there last year.

"The time of the event means it will be a key part of my preparation for the World Championship but I also know that is the same for the other players. What it will result in is a brilliant night of darts."

Van Gerwen is set to headline this year's staging of the show, which proved extremely popular last year.

The evening will also feature the return of defending champion Mark Webster, Vincent van der Voort, John Henderson, Darryl Fitton and the legendary Bobby George, with Premier League star Peter Wright, former world champion Stephen Bunting and the ever-entertaining Wayne Mardle also appearing in Oldham.

Darts is regarded as the best night out in sport, with thousands of fans regularly flocking to events to sample its unique atmosphere and enjoy sporting entertainment of the highest quality.
