AFTER 34 years of treating patients in Saddleworth and Mossley, a popular GP was preparing to hang up her stethoscope for the final time today.
Dr Catherine Campbell, a partner GP at Pennine Medical Centre, says it has been a pleasure to work there as she retires from her role.
Dr Campbell, from Greenfield, said: "I am looking forward to my retirement but I have fully enjoyed my time as a GP.
"I've got to know some of my patients quite well and it has been a pleasure to treat them over the years. I've been able to see families grow with some patients from the start of my career who I saw when they were expecting now preparing to become grandparents."
Dr Campbell (60) added that she is looking forward to travelling and spending time catching up with friends after being kept busy as a GP for so long.
Joanne Cassinelli, practice manager at Pennine Medical Centre, said: "We are all devastated to see Dr Campbell go.
"Most of us at the practice have worked with her for a long time and she has been fantastic to work with over all these years.
"She is well respected and highly thought of by patients and staff alike. She will be missed greatly."
