CELEBRITIES and local dignitaries joined staff at Tameside Oldham and Glossop (TOG) Mind to celebrate the opening of a newly extended wellbeing centre.
Coronation Street star Beverley Callard and fellow Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps and more recently Broadchurch actor Will Mellor attended the grand opening day and helped to cut the ribbon alongside the Mayor of Oldham Derek Heffernan and Mayoress Di Heffernan.
Mental health charity TOG Mind provides a range of services designed to promote the wellbeing and improvement of the mental health of residents in the area, with facilities at the wellbeing centre on Katherine Street, Ashton, and in Medtia Place on Union Street, Oldham.
Over the last five years the number and range of services offered by the charity has grown substantially to address increasing need in our communities and more space was needed at the Ashton centre to allow the charity to continue delivering the vital services.
Jenny Robinson, chief executive of TOG Mind, said "As we are beginning to put the extra space to great use, we wanted to show key partners and stakeholders how far we have come.
"The launch day was an opportunity for everyone to discover what's new in the centre as well as inform them about our services in the community.
"We now have a family room with full disability access for therapy sessions and small group work, a larger room for youth group work, a well-equipped training room, along with an additional counselling room, a break-out space and offices.
"We were so pleased so many people came along to find out more about the services we offer."
Over the course of the day, almost 100 people attended the wellbeing centre and heard from beneficiaries of the charity.
