CHADDERTON Park's cerebral palsy team have received some very special Olympic endorsement to help them Rio-lise their dreams.
Hot from her Team GB hockey success, Oldham golden girl Nicola White threw her support behind the squad's latest fundraising attempt, Tough Mudder.
She tweeted: "Good luck!!! You guys are incredible" as the team and their supporters count down to their muddy money-maker event at Malpas, in Cheshire, on Sunday.
Fifteen club coaches and parents are attempting the five mile assault course during which competitors are tested on strength, stamina, mental grit and mud wading ability.
Chadderton Park Sports Club secretary Craig Simpson said the team has been spurred on by Nicola's support.
"It was fantastic to receive a message from Nicola," he told us.
"Chadderton Park Sports Club and Nicola have been friends for some years now since meeting at an Oldham Sports Awards evening. We have kept in touch ever since and we are delighted she has described our group as "incredible". To hear that from Oldham's own Olympic gold medallist is amazing and inspirational.
"Nicola is hoping to visit our cerebral palsy training once her busy scheduled has eased off."
They've been sponsored by Yelloway Coaches which has paid for the team's Tough Mudder Kit.
The club's Andy May said: "We are aiming to raise over £1,000 for Chadderton Park Cerebral Palsy Football which coaches football to over 50 children aged two to 16 who have cerebral palsy.
"Many children travel many miles just to play football at Chadderton Park and we continue to try and spread the word and encourage other clubs to set up similar sessions to ours. Chadderton Park's motto is #Clubforall."
