FROM firewalks to mountain climbs to bake sales, the ways in which people fundraise for Mahdlo Youth Zone takes many different forms.
Bill Badham, co-director of Practical Participation, a company which supports social change, will be embarking on a trip in September that will be challenging and exciting, and will raise vital funds for the youth centre - he will be cycling to Croatia, which is nearly 1,400 miles.
He will be cycling through 10 countries in two weeks, starting today and finishing in Dubrovnik on Sunday, September 18.
Bill visited the Egerton Street youth centre to talk to young people about his forthcoming cycling adventure.
The young people were amazed by Bill's cycling stories and enjoyed examining his bicycle and even having a ride on it.
Practical Participation recently worked with Mahdlo on a young people's consultation project which gave Bill an introduction to the work done by Mahdlo.
Bill said: "I'm passionate about young people and them having the best chances and opportunities possible, it is no surprise then that I have come to know and enjoy working with Mahdlo, sharing in the young people's successes, ably supported by a great team and backed by a great organisation."
Mahdlo is always looking for people to get involved with the Youth Zone in different ways. At the moment, Mahdlo is looking for new trustees and board members to join the team.
Anyone interested in finding out more about getting involved can contact Mike Doran or Alex Herod on mike.doran@mahdloyz.org, alex.herod@mahdloyz.org or 0161 624 0111.
