HOW it will look . . . the Odeon cinema at Oldham's old town hall
CINEMA giant Odeon is set to start recruiting for 40 jobs at Oldham's new multi-screen complex at the old town hall.
The new seven-screen, 789-seat multiplex opening later this year will transform the entertainment and hospitality available to local film fans and families in Oldham.
Sitting at the heart of the £28 million project to redevelop the old town hall by creating a family-friendly retail and leisure destination, the new cinema will retain several of the grade II-listed building's historic features and help preserve the landmark for future generations.
Odeon is on the search for locals to join its team as cinema hosts and supervisors.
Recruitment will take place at selection events in early September, hosted by Odeon's general manager Paul Dagg in collaboration with the Get Oldham Working team, a campaign established by Oldham Council to help support local residents into sustainable employment.
The cinema is being built using the latest technology, including a state-of-the-art Odeon exclusive "ISENSE" screen, allowing guests to enjoy blockbusters in ultra-high definition.
Return
It marks the return of Odeon to Oldham after a 30-year absence.
Duncan Reynolds, managing director at Odeon UK and Ireland, said: "We are delighted about the opening of Odeon Oldham and look forward to sharing our passion for cinema with the local community.
"It's great to see the cinema taking such a central position in the heart of Oldham's old town centre, providing residents with the very best cinema experience for great prices."
Jean Stretton, Oldham Council leader, said: "This development is central to our regeneration of Oldham town centre and we are excited to welcome Odeon here to bolster our strong list of quality, well-known and trusted brands.
"Odeon are fully on-board with our Get Oldham Working campaign which helps create new jobs and opportunities for local residents."
Paul Dagg, general manager at Odeon Oldham, said: "Working closely with Oldham Council, we're putting a great deal of time and effort into hiring passionate and enthusiastic local people to join our team. We're offering fantastic training and opportunities, and working together will ensure we deliver the exceptional customer service expected by our guests. We are still recruiting for a number of roles, with more details on our careers page: odeoncareers.co.uk."
