AN Oldham man running next year's London Marathon is holding a fundraising event to kick-start his campaign to raise £3,000 for an autism charity.
Father of one Michael Wildbore (40) is running the marathon for the National Autistic Society in support of his nephew Harris, who has the condition.
On Sunday he will be hosting a fundraising event at Tesco Express in Middleton. He and others will don running gear in an attempt to kick-start the £3,000 fundraising effort.
The event will include activities such as name the teddy bear and participants will be cycling 26 miles on an exercise bike in an effort to raise money through donations.
Michael has taken part in the Oldham and Blackpool half-marathons in the past year, running the former dressed as a ballerina.
But this will be his first marathon and he is aiming for a time of around three hours and 30 minutes.
He said: "I've always wanted to do a marathon, and particularly to do it for a great cause.
"We're really looking forward to hosting the event and start raising some money. I will be running over 1,000 miles over the next 34 weeks in preparation for the marathon, so it'll be tough"
Sunday's event will take place at Tesco Express, 408 Oldham Road, Middleton, M24 2FA. To donate, or for more information, visit www.justgiving.com/michaelwildbore.
